About Mark Moran

A native Virginian who walked away from Wall Street to fight for a system that works for everyone.

Growing Up in Virginia

I'm a native of McLean, Virginia, born at the U.S. Naval Academy and raised in a military family. Growing up, we learned to live with crisis. I was a freshman in high school during the Virginia Tech shooting and the global financial collapse. My generation was defined by broken promises.

And all the while, the same people were in charge. Making the same promises... and breaking them.

I'm running for U.S. Senate because nothing in this country seems to work anymore. You feel it every single day. You can't afford a house, neither can I. You can't afford an education, I know what that's like. In Virginia, you can't even afford your electricity bill.

You have to ask: How did we get here? It wasn't by accident. It was by choice. It happened because the system is designed for donors, not voters.

From the Inside Out

I've seen how the system is rigged from the inside. Now I'm fighting to change it from the outside.

Education in Virginia

College of William & Mary – Alvin P. Anderson Scholar, Captain of NCAA Division I Track and Field Team, studied finance and sociology

University of Virginia – Joint JD and MBA, combining legal expertise with financial acumen

When William & Mary cut seven varsity sports in 2020, I led the successful campaign to reinstate them—uncovering budget fraud and leveraging media to defend Olympic sports. I proved I could take on entrenched systems and win.

Wall Street Experience

Investment Banking – Lazard and Centerview Partners, advising on more than $75 billion in M&A transactions, predominantly in healthcare

I should know how the system is rigged. I was one of them. After getting my JD/MBA at UVA, I worked on Wall Street. I saw from the inside how corporations and the political establishment—people like Mark Warner—get rich while you get left behind.

It made me so angry I had to walk away from all of it. I wanted to get as far away from that world as possible, to find something real.

Defender of Workers

While working in finance, I emerged as one of the most prominent national voices advocating for junior bankers. I spotlighted brutal working conditions and called for reforms to the 100-hour workweek culture.

My advocacy was widely covered in outlets like the New York Post, Bloomberg, and Business Insider, positioning me as an insider who could challenge the excesses of the industry while still understanding its mechanics.

Attention Economy Expert

Equity Animal – Founded an investor relations and strategic communications firm that redefined how public companies engage with the market

We executed industry firsts: the first publicly traded company's earnings call on Twitter Spaces (a model adopted by firms like Robinhood and Tesla), and the first retail-investor-focused roadshow.

Described by Business Insider as having "a high-octane personality" and by The Wall Street Journal as "a provocative personality on social media," I understand that attention is a currency and know how to use it.

Why I'm Running

I've seen their world, and I've seen the real world. And I know which one I'm fighting for.

The problem isn't just one person or one party. The problem is a system that allows one man to build a personal dynasty for over 20 years. The problem is THEM.

But how do we fix it? That's not up to them. That's up to US.

This isn't a fantasy. This is what happens when WE decide to take our power back. This is our plan. These are the keys to the Commonwealth.

We will tax the data centers that strain our grid to pay for a debt-free college education for every Virginian, and free tuition at all HBCUs.

We will ban corporations from buying homes, create a government-backed credit to help young families build wealth, and make homeownership accessible again.

We will create a country where the individual is treated with more respect and whose voice will ring louder than that of corporate control—just as Washington, Mason, Jefferson, Madison, and the other founding fathers desired.

I pledge to you that I will only serve two terms. I will not become part of the problem. I will work for YOU.

My Commitment to You

Taking on the wealthiest senator and the entire establishment—it's a bold move. It's especially going to be a tough race because I am pledging not to take donations from corporations, AIPAC or any other foreign countries, or billionaires.

But you don't fix a broken system by asking for permission. You fix it by having the courage to run against it.

It takes people like US.
